Receipt Generator
This page is a receipt generator and receipt maker for people who need a printable payment receipt without creating an account. Enter the business name, purchased items, optional tax, and how the customer paid — cash, UPI, card, bank transfer, cheque, or another method — then download a PDF or print. Totals, amount paid, and change due are calculated in the browser.
Receipt contents stay on your device. A draft is saved in this browser so a refresh does not start over. Toolshelf does not upload receipts for processing.
How to Create a Receipt
- 1Enter the business or store name. Add a logo, address, phone, email, website, or tax ID only if they should appear on the receipt.
- 2Optionally add the customer name, phone, email, or address.
- 3Confirm the receipt number and date. Time is optional. A default number such as REC-2026-0001 can be edited.
- 4Add items with quantity and unit price. Apply a discount and optional tax, then choose the payment method and amount paid.
- 5Check the live preview, then download PDF, print, or export PNG or JPG. Use New receipt to start another one.
Receipt vs invoice
Use a receipt after money has changed hands. Use an invoice when you are still requesting payment. This generator labels the document as a receipt, supports amount paid and change due, and does not require a customer name. If you need a due date, balance due, and bill-to block as the primary layout, open the Invoice Generator.

- What is a receipt?
- A receipt confirms that a payment or transaction has already been received. It is not an invoice. An invoice asks for payment; a receipt records that payment was taken, with items, totals, and usually a payment method.
- How do I create a receipt online?
- Open the Toolshelf receipt generator, enter the store name, add purchased items, choose how the customer paid, then download a PDF or print. You do not need an account.
- Is this a receipt generator or an invoice maker?
- This page is a receipt generator. It uses receipt numbering, optional customer details, amount paid, and change due. For a bill that is still unpaid, use the Invoice Generator instead.
- Can I make a printable cash receipt?
- Yes. Choose Cash as the payment method, enter amount paid if you need change due, then print. Thermal layout is a narrow 80mm style aimed at small receipt printers.
- Can I download a receipt as PDF?
- Yes. Download Receipt builds a PDF from the on-screen preview in your browser. Thermal PDFs stay narrow; if a printer driver is picky, use Print instead.
- Does the receipt stay after I refresh the page?
- Yes. Fields (and the logo when storage allows) are saved in this browser automatically so a refresh does not wipe the draft. Use New receipt when you want a blank form. Nothing is stored on a Toolshelf server.
- Do I need to sign up?
- No. Toolshelf Receipt Generator runs locally. There is no signup wall and no upload of receipt contents for processing.
- Is this a tax or legal filing tool?
- No. The tool generates a document for your own legitimate transactions. You are responsible for accurate details, numbering, and any tax or record-keeping rules that apply to you.
What this receipt generator is for
