How to Create a Payment Receipt Online and Download PDF

Build a payment receipt in the browser: store details, items, amount paid, and a PDF download. A receipt records a payment already taken — it is not an invoice.

Receipt, not invoice

A receipt shows that payment was received: who issued it, what was sold, the total, and usually how the customer paid. An invoice is a request for payment that may still be outstanding.

The Receipt Generator fills that layout in the browser and downloads a PDF. There is no account. A draft stays in this browser after refresh unless you start a new receipt.

  • Business or store name, plus optional logo, address, and tax ID.
  • Optional customer details for named buyers.
  • Receipt number, date, and optional time.
  • Line items with quantity and unit price.
  • Discount, optional tax, payment method, amount paid, and change due when it applies.

Print vs PDF

PDF is a convenient file to keep or email. Thermal layout is a narrow 80mm style for small printers; if a PDF driver stretches it, use the browser print dialog instead.

What this is not

It is not a point-of-sale system, GST filing, or proof that a government accepted the transaction. You are responsible for accurate information on receipts you issue.

Frequently asked questions

Can I create a cash receipt without a customer name?
Yes. Customer fields are optional. Add the store name, items, and payment method, then download or print.
